QUEST: July 16
Quester
My wonderful wife bought a small “teardrop” camper to use in support of my Quest walk, and she quite appropriately named it “Quester.”
(We name everything, by the way.)
Tonight is my first night in Quester… the first of several, as I make my way over to the monastery. Today’s walk was about average, at 12.4 miles.
Kathryn parked Quester in a dirt parking lot near a business, the owner of which granted us permission in advance to park there for this one night. They were extremely nice about it, and I’m grateful for their accommodation.
In fact, I asked permission of a handful of businesses for this same parking accommodation, and every one of them was extremely nice and more than willing to let us park Quester with them.
We offered to pay a little something, but none of these business owners would have it.
With all the evil, and all the mean people out there, I am finding it very refreshing to know that everyone with whom I’ve made contact during this Quest has been generous, friendly, and just plain nice.
Refreshing, but not too surprising. These are small business owners. The salt of the American earth. And every one of them seems to run their business as if driven to do it by a strong sense of purpose, and by love.
Thank you all!
Thanks for following my Quest. If you’d like to respond, please post a comment here, or send an email to michael@michaelhume.net. Either way, I look forward to reading your views when I return to my screen in late August.
