QUEST: July 24

Bills

Today was another beautiful walk down the road through the pine-scented mountain forest.  I walked 9.5 miles to another campground, where the owners were kind enough to let us park Quester in their gravel lot.  VERY nice people… thanks!

Meanwhile, back in my “real life,” today’s the day I get my July “social security” payment, deposited directly into my checking account.  Of course, I’m not there to start spending the money.

That income goes to bills, and since I’m neither near a screen, nor willing to use a screen during this Quest, how can my bills be paid?  In the interest of safety, I didn’t even bring my checkbook (let alone a stamp).

The answer, of course, is that paying the bills I usually pay, by phone or online, is one more chore Kathryn has to undertake to keep things going smoothly while her husband tramps around the countryside attempting to talk to God.

The woman is a saint.  Ask anyone who knows her.

Thanks for following my Quest.  If you’d like to respond, please post a comment here, or  send an email to michael@michaelhume.net.  Either way, I look forward to reading your views when I return to my screen in late August.
